Just when we thought it was safe…Nitrado is back and doing what they do best.
Here’s the latest in Ark Survival Ascended, Ark Survival Evolved and Ark 2 News.
This coming week features the end of Turkey Trials, and the beginning of Winter Wonderland…along with Survival Of The Fittest. ARK Merchandise is now available, but there are possible shipping issues. ARK 2 is being mentioned by Snail Games as coming Holiday 2024, and they have also shown some sort of an updated Ark Roadmap. What is going on with Ark 2? Is it still in production? And finally, Nitrado/Wildcard have installed an update that looks harmless, but has restricted access to non-Nitrado hosted servers. Also, it has installed all sorts of monitoring files, even for off-network servers that you need to be made aware of. We all knew that Nitrado would wait for the dust to settle after their last server issues, and they seem to be ready to make another attempt at screwing over anyone not using their servers.

Is ASA worth it to buy? I had a fun time with ASE albeit I couldn’t navigate and get a base setup without having to ask some player that was 10,000+ days old to build there.
Nitrado can attempt to justify a monopoly all they want, it'll never work though. It's a clear as day fact that they increased their server prices the instant they were given their monopoly, and that is EXACTLY WHY monopolies are illegal most of the time. Having a monopoly is unethical to the consumer, regardless of if you paid to have that monopoly or not. That's why microsofts purchase of blizzard was so highly fought against in actual courts of law. It's because if you own the monopoly you can charge whatever you want and people HAVE NO CHOICE but to pay it, and they can't go anywhere else who's offering a lower price.
Again, normally monopolies are illegal. I personally think monopolies for server hosting should still be illegal, but that's just my personal opinion.
I absolutely hate cryopods. 80 percent of players don’t even get tek…. Remove most of tek. It’s just for no life’s!!!
As someone who works 7+ 12+ hour days, crystal are essential
To me cryos are necessary for PVE when you’re dealing with large amount of creatures, etc.
But the harvesting of IP data and who knows what for Nitrado could be a precursor to cracking down hard on non-Nitrado servers. I’m saying that out of cynicism as I don’t trust Nitrado and believe they will act in any unethical manner even if it means artificially throttling players through the client who don’t use Nitrado servers, or some other nefarious actions. Right now they’re gathering what data they can so they can figure out how to leverage it to force people to their servers.

a darksouls version of ark doesnt appeal to me in any way shape or form, i hope they dont go that route with ark 2

if nitrado is installing spyware without consent then these people need to start up lawsuits. having a fit on twitter or youtube wont do shit to curb the behavior as stated. theyll just let it blow over and do it again.

Well, after playing for 5 years, this officially killed the game for me.
Okay, I have to speak up here. The fear-mongering over this ini thing is getting ridiculous. It's not Nitrado adding them, it's Wildcard (maybe at Nitrado's request but there's no way to know that). And complaining that they were added without consent? Does Wildcard need consent for every update to the server code? No, and that's what ini files are. Also, the changes to the files all have possibly legitimate uses. "Accepted terms"? A flag to track whether the user has agreed to the terms (which every piece of software has). Minecraft has done this the same way for years. "Tracing" one? Tracing is used to monitor software and fix bugs, it's not necessarily for spying. We DO want Wildcard to fix bugs right? Another one (can't remember the name but it matches the Unreal Engine tool name) controls Unreal Engine animation handling and likely has nothing to do with evil deeds. All I'm saying is lets please do our research, stick to the facts, and not give into wild speculation. No matter how evil we know Nitrado and Snail Games are. I'm still undecided about Wildcard.

ASA is such a waste of money in its current state 😢 impossible to travel in the water with the thick fog, can barely see 2ft in front of you. Can't travel around mountains or any area there is fog because you end up clipping in and out of the framework, don't know where you are half the time as well because of the fog everywhere. Basically restricted to beaches and other low-lying terrain. One map. No cryopods. Cryopods aren't going to work properly when released anyway. Joke.

The “Nitrado” changes you talk about actually have nothing to do with Nitrado, and everything to do with the fact that you’re emulating a Nitrado node when deploying an ASA server. Why? BECAUSE WC IS DEVELOPING THE NODE FOR NITRADO. They’re the official “host” and they have a business agreement with them. You expect WC to put dev time into creating a secondary non-official server hosting they get paid 0 money for? Or does it make more sense for them to develop both at once with some INI files indicating what kind of server is being hosted?
Snail's management should play SotF.

Idk about anyone else but I like that cryos are like pokeballs. Ark feels like a better pokemon game.
Nothing could ever possibly convince me that cryopods are a bad idea. Server slowdown and absolutely locking people out of the ability to tame when servers max out is a stupid reason for the game to be running bad. Not to mention on my private server, while breeding, 1 out of every 5 Dino’s gets stuck in the floor or a wall or a permanent tree that are just fucked because the game is programmed badly
I would like to be a part of the class action lawsuit that I'm assuming is currently building against Nitrado. If it isn't building… Someone get on it!!!
So on steam I have to click on that tiny check box for they player servers. And the other 4 options get check if you hit any where on the icon. Come on guys let's file a complaint with the BBB or something 😅
Cryos are great for storage but its hot use for transportation and bypassing some other game challenges breaks and heavly changes the game. Maybe it should return with more limitations.
Ark 2 never left. They want Ark 2 because all the money they put into it and are going to continue to put into it. If Ark 2 is made right as an MMORPG and not a single player it would sell a lot better.
I have no intentions of getting ASA till these idiots get their heads out of their asses and do right by the gamer. Ark 2 will fail if they continue down this nasty slope of trash brained idiocy.
I dont know, i kinda miss the adventure of when ASE came out and you tame a creature and had to walk it all the way back to your base, way before cryopods. I will admit it does make it easier with cryopods.
