This better be an April fools joke…
It does make sense from a budgeting standpoint that ARK 2 being delayed for so long means they have to find a way to cover their development costs for another two years (and sales of the original alone might not be enough). Yet, while the motive may be understandable, they are resorting to bad practices which may hurt them more in the long run.
It's not unheard of to have to pay for a remastered version of the game, particularly on consoles where licensing deals can get complicated (though I think PC upgrades should always be free). However these remasters tend to be cheaper than a brand new game and they occasionally offer a reduced price for people who already own the original game. More importantly, all the DLC is included in the new package. ASA asking people to buy all the DLC again on top of the Remaster (and a bundle with Ark 2 for some reason) is definitely a step too far.
It certainly doesn't help that it was already stated previously that the upgrade would be free and would be backwards compatible.
Another thing is that consoles will absolutely not be able to have all the mods possible on Steam because they won't be allowed to have anything copyrighted, controversial, or even remotely "nsfw." The Pokemon mod for example will never be on Xbox or PS5 because Nintendo could destroy them in court over it. Having paid mods could turn a lot of PC players away while encouraging mod authors to not take as many creative risks.

50/50 slip, bloody bs, i get infastructure costs but this should not come out of modders profits, hell ide gladly pay an extra 10/20 bucks for the remaster if it meant modders got to further profit off of there amazing work.
im on board with wiping servers as long as on launch there is evident progress on server abuse (pillaring and the like).
no procedural generation = massive mistake. while i never spent too much time on it, a completely new map without the temptation to cheat and look up deets was always a good, fun experience

This makes a lot fo sense as to why they were so quiet. They knew they had to make scummy choices, in pursuit of more money. So they're now dropping this, to see if we'll be good little pay pigs. The Stockholm syndrome is already showing in most content creators.

I've loved ARK for so long. Its been an amazing game to play. This really pisses me off. That's not okay to rebuy all the dlc I already own. And on top of that wait for it to be released. I'd have been fine with waiting for ARK2 if they needed more time just give us a dlc map we gotta buy i guess. And I'd be chill. But rebuy all of it and then wait for almost 2 more years. Probably gonna step back from ARK for a bit this demotivated from playing.

At this point just cancel Ark 2 and 100% fix the 1st game with this update. If the remake is as significant as it sounds for Ark 1 then I don’t mind paying but if it’s just a skin and performance upgrade I’ll wait for it to be on a steep sale.

Its really sad i have 7k hours and love the game even with all the shit it comes with but peeps already paid around 100 bucks for all that shit and now you need to pay 90 buck again for stuff you already have….with how the world/economy is today lots of peeps ain't gonna waste that money on a game when they need it for bills/food..Its a pure Money grab and if you really are honest and see how they did in the past you know for a fact that even tho it gets pushed back to 2024 they still will have big glitches and other shit and guess what prolly will do nothing about it cause you know already have your cash….

Ark is just using leverage to force what they want to happen – not entice you to purchase what they're offering. What are content creators largely build around Ark supposed to say? Screw this game, move on and focus on other things that will negatively impact my channel?
Every creator I've seen is picking something to be excited about in a mess of "do not want" information. These decisions were not based off what the community wants – it's about what they can get out of the community.
Im ok with the fact mods will cost money, we def should be paying for quality mods and the owners getting money for it, but the fact UE 5 isn't free when they said it would be is silly, official servers wiping is stupid and so is them not transferring save files over.

I could justify $50 for the full ASA and ark 2 but not $90. I just can’t do it. The more I think about it the less I want to buy in. I’ve been playing since aberation and I love ark, but man this is a slap in the face. Not cool wildcard. They need to change something about this or they will loose a lot of fans money, and let’s be honest that all they care about is our money.

What's the point of them redoing ark 1 and by the time the last dlc gen 1 and gen 2 come out Q4 of 2024 ark 2 will be coming back. No point in replaying all it over again and the new game is coming out by that time. Ps players seem to have to by both ark 2 and the ark 1 remake cause I didn't say ps had a bundle.
LMAO Ark devs have ALWAYS sucked. They always came off as a group who found success in a game and then went full lame and never fixed ANYTHING. They are terrible and despite the fun I had, they are now ancient history.. like dinosaurs. I am content waiting for competent devs to do a dino game at some point, cause wildcard aren't skilled at all. And they never will be.

I actually want to support this developer, but selling a remake AND all the expansions again at FULL price for a remaster is highway robbery. After everyone cools off. I'm wondering how much space ASA will take up. ASE is 500gb without the DLCs or any mods. So, what's the memory space for the remastered URE5? This is SE all over again, with charging the player base for something they said would be a free upgrade. Not to mention you will be paying for mods. All for the server wipes as ASA and A2 will need servers. For all the years of delay, we should get the DLCs for free.

Jaja😂😂😂😂 I'm cool with the whole cross arking creatures because the people that have been monopolizing the servers and scalding new players and new tribes by not letting them build up I feel like allowing a player to get to certain level before it can be proposed to do pvp or even tribe size before pvp to allow for proper defense taming and capabilities to defend or attack

Does this suck yes but I think this "new" ark is good. It's updated and able to keep up with ark 2. It is also another alternative if you do hate ark 2 as they have said it's completely different combat. So if you hate it you now have this newer ark 1 to go back and enjoy what we have loved for years but with better graphics as well as better stable games with the new engine. The dlc cost is really dumb. But the 50 for TWO unreal engine games is great as other company's would make it 60 to 70. And remember we don't have micro transactions in this game which is amazing. A thing other games have.

I'm fine with the respawn bundle pack being ASA and Ark 2 40$ isn't much however if you already owned all the expansions from ASE you should get them all free on ASA. I love Ark but re-paying 20$ each for each expansion is a bad-faith move on the company which honestly probably isn't wildcards fault but snail games standing behind them hitting the "make more money button.
i do also strongly disagree with having to pay for the dlcs again for ark, that is pure money grabbing, but i cant comment on the official servers as i never play on them, i would rather play on a paid server so i am not having to put up with cheaters and what not, however i am completely fine with them charging 50 dollars for ark ascended and ark 2, they are a business, they need to make money to make games and considering they will both be optimized for new gen consoles and will be multi platform, plus this seems to be a better remaster then what any other games seem to get, even the biggest of games don't get this sort of treatment so i do think its worth it and i will get the bundle the day it drops, i do hope wildcard doesn't pull this type of stuff again and should include the dlcs with the bundle rather then charging extra for dlcs, some dlcs being crap anyways (gen part 1), but overall this i think is the right path, like i said they need money to make games, and they should include the dlcs with the bungle, other than that i am fine with this and i hope ark 2 becomes the best game they have made if they are charging for the dlcs.
