Retro Hollywood looks at a forgotten 1976 series from Filmation Studios titled – Ark 2. This video reveals that the series has shades of Star Trek (1966), Lost in Space (1965), 2001 A Space Odyssey (1968), Forbidden Planet (1956), Gilligan’s Island (1964), Planet of the Apes (1968), Space 1999 (1974) and the Mad Max film series.
Ark 2 is available on DVD but be warned, the picture quality is not as sharp as you would expect. At the time of this video, all 15 episodes of Ark 2 are on YouTube.
If you are looking for the sort of grim dark violent science fiction made today, don’t bother with this series. But if you want a positive, family friendly show with knockout location filming and great music cues – Ark 2 is the show for you! Jump onboard the big white truck.
