I know personally I will not be buying any game that I dont see anything from. or can not refund.
I will not buy ASA if bundled with ARK 2. I understand they need to make money. But like alot of others out there. I dont play 3rd person only. and If I wanted Souls like combat. I would play Dark Souls.
and for any one that say you are paying for ARK 2 and getting ASA for free. LOOK again.. you are paying $39.99 for ASA and $10 for ARK 2. other wise.. PS would be getting ASA for free.
Just hope Wildcard smartens up. and listens to the base.
The scummiest part is that they're overhauling an entire game, AND adding more DLC… but this other game? We need to keep delaying it, and never show you anything on it. Not even a still of gameplay. Oh, but buy our new version, and we'll throw in Ark 2….

Wait, i just wanna make sure I understood prepoerly, does it mean that ark (the game we bouhht with dlc ) will no longer work in 5 month and we will basicly have to buy it again or will the game still work??? And if so, will we have to buy the dlc AGAIN?
I understand about paying for the game cos you get ark 2 and its got added features but why pay for dlc that 90% of people in the community already have.
The only shitty part is the lies of free to now paying for it. Everything else massive W, as long as they stick to it.
theres something really off about wildcard the way they have done business and communicated this past year is super shady i honestly feel like they put out fake dates for ark 2 to lie to investors theres zero way they thought they were even remotely close to a 2022 date just to delay it 2 times all the way to the end of 2024 and not even be able to show gameplay. Ark 1 upgrade should be a small fee with a new map and anyone who paid for the same dlc shouldnt have to pay again and if its so resource intensive to where they have to recharge people why not put that energy into ark 2? seems just like a cash grab to me
My issue is everything has problems and we should expect those problems like you said. My issue is the people who act like they expect the perfect outcome every time and cry about stuff later when weve all been playing survival games, early access games or at least have some time spent in games of the type and for people to have fits over something that should be expected hurts the overall community. I mean them saying cross platform alone should have people realizing just how much crap is going into this and cross platform itself is something we dont want them to launch and then have extreme issues with. Personally i think they should give a date for release far off instead of specific. It would mean that if they get done early they may launch it early and dont think just because they have it so far off that they will just be sitting at home twiddling their thumbs not doing anything cause they wont be haha.
Why are none of the content creators addressing that aimbot is coming to console thanks to full cross plat. What a stupid idea full cross platform console doesn’t compare to pc even next gen consoles aren’t good enough. The devs think we’re stupid monkeys who buy product then consume next product. Why should we trust the devs they never deliver on anything they promised

With 30k+ hours in OG Ark I would've always bought ASA anyway but it sucks ass to be paying for a game that's half what we have now. Being forced to buy an updated version of 2018 ark with only the vanilla maps is a kick in the teeth.
Would sting a lot less if it released with all the maps and dlc we have now.
Plus getting swindled into buying Ark2 just to pump up their sales numbers with no game play is shady af. Wouldn't expect anything less from Wildcard at this point though.
I do agree with everything you said. But I do honestly believe that ASA was going to be a free upgrade but they have been losing money and how Snail Games is doing things forced them to make it payed. And after having needing to be paid they most likely decided to use it as a way to test new UE 5 features and get practice to work on Ark 2, then leading to the delay and giving them more time to work out everything so that it can become the best game that it can be.
They should atleast give us the dlc like aberation scorched earth extinction and genises 1 and 2 for free if we have to buy better graphics
I expected the delays, I haven't been super plugged into the overall ARK community for very long, but that was a pattern that I've seen going back a couple years. What is, frankly frustrating as all hell, to understate it as someone who works for a company whose entire premise is 'create system for client', in this case 'game for players' on longer term rollouts, is that they don't have ANYTHING to show us as far as the actual game goes. I get that the first yearish with Covid wasn't ideal, but they've had a further year and a half since then, and all we have is a couple cinematic trailers made in a test environment of some kind and some art – awesome art, but art all the same. I'm thinking that sometime around a year ago a decision was made by management to port over a bunch of stuff from Ark 1 and do the 'Survival Ascended' thing to give the developers a little more time to get used to UE5. Then that got the majority of dev time for the past year, and Ark 2 has only been worked on by a small subset of the Wildcard dev's since then, which would explain why the delay is a year and a half and they have nothing they want to show. Personally I don't mind dropping the $50 for Ark 1.5, Ark 2, plus the 1 month preview thing. But repurchasing the DLC's? Piss off mate! I'll wait for the cool free mods to drop with the assets from the other maps and play those.

Seems to me that they need more time for Ark 2, but that they need the money up front to do it. And that's why they're rolling out Ark Ascended and selling bundles of everything as fast as possible. Even closing official servers asap to incentivize people to make the jump.
It's not necessarily bad if it's done in good faith. But it's a lot of trust to put on the line, making people pre-purchase so far in advance, with so little to show of the actual product.
I'm more interested in Ark Ascended than Ark 2, and my worry is exactly that they'll treat Ark Ascended like a testing ground, and not a full game. That they'll push it out for quick cash for Ark 2, and not give it a proper polish of its own. Time will tell.
I'm cautiously holding my breath (and wallet) until I see how Ark Ascended turns out, and I suspect that I'll stay on my current servers for a while past august.

I rather support From Software that made Elden Ring, dark souls games etc and play those games rather than supporting Snail Games and Wildcard, they're too shady
Honestly bro the more i think about it, the more trash Ark becomes, awesome maps and experience but there's nothing there, it's like a world filled with.. emptyness, no NCPs no questlines, no actual story except for a video when beating the ascensions.. there's nothing there, looks good and cool maps and that there's dinos in there is also cool, but except for the pvp aspect there's nothing to actually do in-game. When you've tamed a fem and male dino you basically just sit afk to breed them in singelplayer.
Snail Games needs to answer for everything
