I play in vote view modes mostly 3rd person but I use the other nearly as much. Sounds like they are way off the mark creating ark 2 the way they are, I feel like they are diverging too far from the original game tbh and perhaps trying to ride the dark soul train lol.
I completely agree with all points you made. However I think there is a path loyal players may take instead, you stated that either they will just return to Ark 1 or go to other games. However we have a lot of creative content designers in the Ark community, so creative in fact that Wild Card has actually put their mods into the game for everyone to play, and yes I'm referring to the Non-Cannon maps such as Lost World, Ragnarok, and Crystal Isles. I think those same people will end up trying to "Fix" Ark 2 by returning the first person aspect and tweaking the combat system.
And for those out there who think that will never happen, that a group of loyal players will take on such a task. I would like to point out that it's not the first time a games community has come together and gone "Ya know what. This is one bad game, lets fix that." We have done it to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Vampire the Mascaraed, Gothic 3, and even just about every game Bethesda put out. I mean come on, anyone who has played a Bethesda game knows somewhere there is the "Unofficial Patch" that just about everyone has put in their game to fix numerous bugs, camera angles, broken quests lines, entire area's that dont render in, or even add in content that was removed due to time constrains. The most famous of the games to have these patches are of course Elder Scrolls.
So personally, if Ark 2 does come out in 3rd person and does add Souls like combat to the game, I honestly believe that we as a community will come together, and ask our best Game Modders to please fix it. The fact that they now want console to also add in Mods like PC means that no Ark player will be left behind.
I hope that they will fix the prevviewmode cuz when I play pvp on a big map on 60 ping I sometimes lag
As a console player, I think the game is way better in first person because it feels more immersive and fun.
Oh, and it runs better too.
They should allow tek generators and troughs.
dude those points are all beeing discused in the neww ark 2 dev update already point one new engine, point two no game ever is a bug free, ponit 3 hackers are never been stopend anywhere so thats a BS pooint to make, point 4 they spoke about mllions of variations of armor abviously tek is not going to be elike this anymore , and your last point dude they stated so many new inovations that changes the entire genre i am offended that an ark player like you come out so soon with a video to put ark 2 down already
Personally, I am pretty optimistic about the changes we will get in ark 2, cause ark 1 has needed change for a long time. I love the idea of the combat style being souls-like for ark 2 tho.
In ark 1, when you fight stuff (mostly in melee combat), there is not a lot of skill required to win. Whether or not your riding a dino, it ultimately comes down to having the best stats, the best gear, and just directly hitting your enemy, while it hits you, until one of you die. And that’s it for most cases in ark 1.
So the idea of a souls-like combat system is really interesting for me. This would make the outcome of battles much more skill based. Now, we don’t need
it to be 100% skill based. What we need for combat, is a balance of who has the best skill, and who has the best gear/stats/Dino, whether it’s a pve or pvp battle.
However, I as a average first-person enjoyer in ark, am not fond of removing first-person for ark 2. As all of the things Steve said, ark 1 is primary first person, and secondary third person, and the first person experience for ark, is one of the most important things about the game. It makes it way more immersive, and gives a good scaling idea when it comes to the giant dinos you fight, run from and tame.
Despite this somewhat disappointing removal, I am still hopeful, and hyped for ark 2 more than ever!
Remember tho, that in the main developers log for ark 2, they mention that through the modding system, people will be able to add first person again relatively easy.
But they are indeed taking a big risk, changing a feature that sooo many people like about the game.
Why are people so scared of change? All that "good old days" talk…. I'm sure they will do their best to make ARK 2 the best they can. And that takes a lot of changes. There probably went a lot of thought into the third person only decision (To make the new combat mechanics playable i think). And I for myself play ark a lot in third person. I'm so dissapointed to see so many people are uploading stuff about "how ark 2 can fail". Please put some trust in the developers. I'm sure they are doing the best they can to make a awesome and amazing game.
I agree with you! I hope they rethink the view options because I love first person view I use it alot for the feel of the game to feel like I'm really there I want to beable to look my dinos in the eye, when I first played ark this gave me chills and I fell in love with the game if they don't reconsider this I will not play ark 2
I know for for some people this may seem petty but it's what I love about ark and they are going to take it away I won't play

I wanted to come into this jumping down your throat because I knew what you were about to say, and I was right.
BUT after hearing you, I totally get what you’re saying and where it’s coming from. When I initially heard the news I was super pumped about it, even over looking the 3rd person only because actually I mostly play in third person. And I was mostly excited to hear about the souls-like combat since I got really into elden ring. However you totally got me second guessing ALL of that now lol.
So yeah I totally agree with you 100%. All of your suggestions are perfect and hopefully they get this right.
At least I don’t want to go back to the bugs/glitches of ARK 1.
I agree with all of it, and mostly the Tek. It’s cool and all, but like can we having a survival game without alien type vibes?

Where pve players finaly has npc enemys to defent against to make it more challenging.
everyting i read about ark 2 makes me feels more want to play it when its finaly comming out.
the removing of first person does not matter to me. I like to play in 3th person anyway because i'm easy to become scared.
Remind that ark 1 ad first only had first person and later on they got 3th so maybe the same will happen to ark2?

I totally disagree. I mainly play 3rd person and am really looking forward to a more agile Compact and movement style. I love ark because of the exploring, Dino’s, breeding, taming, playing with friends, hundreds of possibilities what to do etc.

Where does it even say it's 3rd person only? I feel like this is all a bit premature, and the way the poll was worded 100% manipulated the outcome. Let's all wait till we see gameplay before we bash the game

1st person is needed. Give players free choice, not limitations.

if you play ark 1 in first person youre an idiot or play pve, dark souls combat os an 100% correct direction as it never ever forces you to lock onto one enemy. thats your decision.
I love that they are putting in an assassin creed movement system and new combat. The biggest worry I have and the reason I stay in first person most of the time is because its almost impossible to pick up anything your aiming to pick up in 3rd person. Alot of 3rd person games have this same problem even Red Dead 2 can you imagine trying to pick up that one little package out of 20 on the ground if 3rd person was all we had.
When Atlas came out, everyone was saying it's the same game (at first glance). People hated on it a lot calling it a Ark reskin lol.
I feel like it's nearly impossible to find middle ground between "Same game LULW" (like people are with OW2), and "Wtf why change so much?". I hope they nail it though.
Maybe if the thrived person only is in a story mode and there is also a sandbox mode where it is more like ark 1 no NPCs just you your tribe A FIRST PERSON OPTION and some dinosaurs

The souls based controls for Ark 2 is a bad, bad idea. Feels like Wildcard grabbing at straws. If they do that, I doubt I will buy the game.
Conan has first person and the option to fight in first. Its a setting. I don't like the idea of Ark being just 3rd person. I cant get behind that.
disagree with your conclusion a) ~80% of your pole doesn't mean ~80% of arks players b) as a console first (later pc) player, I loved when they introduced third person, it was such a game changer! I do agree in that I'd like to have the option of both
As a console player, I hate 3rd person view. It has its perks in the game but I rarely use it. I am always in first person and use orbit view for building.
